The divinely gifted musician, bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and singer John Symon Asher "Jack" Bruce was born in 1943 in Glasgow, Scotland. Jack is a living legend and still very active and undoubtedly counts as one of the most influential bassists and known musicians of our time. Even stars like Sting or Jaco Pastorius, when asked about who influenced them, mention him. Jack became famous for his work with the rock band CREAM between 1966 and 1968. He was creating a sensation already in 1962 when playing for the Alexis Korner Blues Inc. with drummer Charlie Watts who later joined the Rolling Stones.

It is hard to find superlatives for Jack - there are just too many. Here's a perfect example: The Cream album "Wheels Of Fire" sold 35 million copies in 2 years and became the first platinum record in the world. One can say that Jack is, without exaggerating, the definitive and innovative bandleader of this first super group. Most tracks on that album were written by him as well as sung. The unison riff of the song entitled "Sunshine Of Your Love" went down in rock history as probably the most played riff of all times.

More bands and projects followed " also making history " with the likes of Graham Bond, John McLaughlin, Ginger Baker, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Eric Clapton, Larry Coryell, Mitch Mitchell, Carla Bley, Mick Taylor, Simon Phillips, Tony Hymas, Billy Cobham, David Sancious, Gary Moore and Frank Zappa, just to name a few. His collaboration with Frank Zappa produced the album "Apostrophe" in 1974, which is also Frank Zappa"s best-selling record.

Jack switched over to fretless bass in 1976 and started playing Warwick in 1985, which brought us to the Jack Bruce Signature model in 1988. According to Jack, the Thumb bass, of which he owns various models, is the closest to his imagination in terms of personal style, sound characteristics and handling.
