Andras Nagy is the bass player, vocalist and founder of the Hungarian symphonic black metal band Sear Bliss. Their music is a unique mixture of black metal, symphonic music and real brass instruments.
Andras was born in Hungary in 1978 and says he was "infected with metal music" when he was still only nine years old. One of his early favorites was Iron Maiden. Nagy cites Maiden bassist Steve Harris as a strong influence and one of the reasons he decided to play music. Nagy started playing guitar at the age of 10, but switched to the bass guitar when he was 14. He formed Sear Bliss in 1993.
The band was was awarded "CD Of The Month" in Netherland's metal magazine Aardschok for their debut album "Phantoms." It was the first black metal album ever to receive this award. "Phantoms" subsequently sold over 10.000 copies, not bad for the debut of a young underground band. The release of "Phantoms" was followed by a European tour with Swedish black metal masters Marduk. The band has since released six albums and one DVD, toured Europe several times and played at many big festivals (Sziget (H), Party San (D), Brutal Assault (CZ), etc... Nowadays Sear Bliss is working with UK's No.1. metal label Candlelight Records/Plastic Head Distribution and their latest album "The Arcane Odyssey" was released in September 2007. "The Arcane Odyssey" won the Best Metal Album of 2007 category title at Hungarian Metal Awards.
Nagy has been using Warwick basses since 1999. He became a fan of these instruments when he bought a Fortress One 4-string in 1999 and was impressed by the sound and quality of that instrument. His next Warwick bass was a Corvette $$ (double buck) 5-string. Andras became an official Warwick endorsee in 2007 and he considers this as one the highlights in his musical career. He says "I love the perfect sound of Warwick basses. They fit perfectly my style and the music I play. I like the high quality. I truly believe they are the best basses on the market."
Incidentally, Sear Bliss guitarists Istvan Neubrandt and Peter Kovacs are both Framus endorsers.
