Karnivool in New York | | | On the night of August 27th in New York’s Lower East Side Australian prog-metal alchemists Karnivool rocked NYC’s historic venue The Bowery Ballroom to show the US how they do things Down Under. With Warwick endorser Jon Stockman providing the razor sharp, pummeling backbone of their astro-metal explorations, Karnivool left the audience mesmerized and begging for more. A relatively new market for Karnivool, the US has been welcoming them with open arms. Jon first acquired a Warwick in 2002. “I had played other brands,” He says “but my bass at the time had been stolen, and I was looking for a five-string Thumb. The store didn’t have any in stock, but they had a six string. I said ‘Oh well, I’ll just get a six’. It took me couple years to get used to it, but now it’s an integral part of the way I play.” John plays a six-string Thumb NT and a custom six-string Corvette.

Jack Bruce Visits the New York Custom Shop ! | | Legendary bass player and one of Warwick’s most honored and long-standing endorsers, Mr. Jack Bruce graced the New York custom shop on August 23rd and 24th. Most famously the Bass Player for psychedelic blues-rock icons Cream, Jack is still one of the world’s top bass players. Visiting NYC while performing at the famous “Hippie- est” on Long Island (with Rare Earth, War, and Mitch Ryder), Jack was amazed by all the wonderful custom shop instruments and took a strong liking to a particular honey colored maple Fretless Star Bass. “I want one! This one!” he exclaimed with a huge grin. He also had an eye for the Hellborg amplification system which he tested to the sonic limit and was very impressed with its handling of his particular attack. Cracking jokes all day in his Scottish brogue, he kept the Warwick USA staff and Warwick founder Hans-Peter Wilfer in stitches while he shook the walls with his thunderous fretless playing. He was so impressed he came in for a second visit the next day! A full interview with Jack will be posted in the future Warwick Newsletter! For More info on the Jack Bruce Band visit www.jackbruce.com Visit the New York Custom Shop Today! 76-80 E 7th Street (between 1st and 2nd ave.) Victor Wooten Bass Camp | | | August 9th was the concluding date of the first 3 week bass camp at Wooten Woods in Tennessee. Guests to the camp included, J.D Blair (the Groove Regulator, Stephan Lessard (Dave Mathews Band), Bob Franceschini (Mike Stern), Roy Vogt, Roy Futureman Wooten (The Flecktones), Reggie Wooten, and many others. A unique feature of this camp was a big gig in Nashville on the last Saturday night. 30 bass players playing Teen Town... and tons of great duets, quartets. What a week it was! Our hearts go out to Bootsy Collins, whose brother, the GREAT Catfish Collins ( James Brown) passed away the night before.... although Bootsy couldn't be with us as planned, the concert was dedicated to the memory and life of his wonderfully musical brother. The last day, thanks to our GREAT sponsor WARWICK... we raffled off these wonderful basses to a few of our funky students. Pictured left to right are Rachel Adelberg, Steve Bailey, Jesse Silbert, Victor Wooten, Jeffrey Sereda, and Anthony Wellington (instructor). Geschrieben am: 10.08.2010 |
Silly: Red turns Gold | | 2010 has been a great year for Warwick and Framus endorsers Jäcki Reznicek and Uwe Hassbecker and their band Silly. Their first album after a fourteen year hiatus, “Alles Rot” took media and fans alike by storm. The success of the new record was so immense, that even the band themselves we’re surprised by the great reception. The album went to No. 3 in the official charts, and every concert of their first leg of the “Alles Rot Tour 2010” was sold out.
But this is just the beginning. The proof is that the album “Alles Rot” was just certified Gold in Germany, an overwhelming success that the new single “Alles Rot” is destined to achieve as well. The single “Alles Rot” will hit music shops in the end of August.

Viktor triumphs on tour | | Longtime Warwick Endorser Viktor Krauss is currently on the road in the US with Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. Viktor has been using the Triumph upright in combination with the Hellborg Amplifier system. The Triumph has the best of electric and acoustic sounds, and in the capable hands of the veteran Nashville ace, it can’t sound better. It allows him to go out on the road and get all the sounds he needs without bringing his acoustic upright bass. “What can I say it? It’s the perfect sound! It doesn’t simply go out to emulate an acoustic instrument, but finds its own character,” he said. Check out Videos from a recent eastern European tour featuring Viktor, the Triumph bass, and the Hellborg Amplifier on Viktor’s very own YouTube Channel: www.youtube.com/user /inktelspoodiwopper www.lylelovett.com www.viktorkrauss.com Posted on: 10.08.2010 |
Future Relative EP Launch | | Electro pop band FUTURE RELATIVE performed to a full house at the Canal Room in New York City for the release of their new EP, ‘Fantasies’. On stage was Warwick Endorser Lex Sadler, who performed with not one but TWO all white Custom Shop Streamer Stage 1s. “The Streamer Stage I is key to the FUTURE RELATIVE sound. I play many slap parts, often in unison with heavy synth bass, so I need to cut through the mix. My Custom Shop Stage I basses have the perfect balance of thumping low end and crystal clear highs to make my voice heard. There’s no other bass that sounds quite like my Stage I basses!” Not content with just making good live music, the band put on a custom light show to compliment the electronic soundscape. “The visual aspect of the show is just as important as the music. We want our fans to be entertained, so we co-ordinate all our lighting with the music. It helps too that both my Stage I basses have bright blue LEDs on the fretboard! The crowd goes crazy when I light them up!” FUTURE RELATIVE has received favorable reviews so far, and will be performing more shows in New York throughout 2010. You can download the Fantasies EP here. myspace.com/futurerelative Posted on: 04.08.2010 |

These guys stand out from the rest with their retro touch. This album is chock full of bona fide beats, genuine ‘Sound of Wood’ bass playing and some honest-to-goodness electric guitar with a touch of analogue synthesizers on the side to add to the old-school atmosphere. With uplifting soul vocals laid on top, this album will have you singing along in the sun all day long. To keep up to date with Parasool please visit: www.parasool.com

| Triumphant Return of TM's Weapon #3 |
 | | | | | | | | TM Stevens, one of Warwick’s seasoned endorsee’s was reunited with one of hisfavorite instruments after a period of 25 years. The year was 1985, and TM was helping to promote the Warwick brand at the Musikmesse Trade Show in Frankfurt, Germany, along with fellow Warwick endorsees John Entwistle and Jack Bruce. After the show was over, he and [Warwick and Framus Founder] Hans-Peter Wilfer we’re closing up the display of which TM’s Weapons were a feature. “The guys at the show offered to let us use one of those big carts they have in order to bring all the stuff down to the first floor, so we didn’t have to carry it all down the stairs,” says TM. “So we piled up all my basses, an old #3 was the top. When I got downstairs to meet the elevator, it wasn’t there. I was devastated, we looked everywhere for it, but it was nowhere to be found.” Fast-forward to 2010, when Warwick noticed the fine airbrushing done by Andy Plattner online and recognized it immediately. It was purchased and returned to him at MusikMesse in Frankfurt while on stage. “If you’re ever gonna see a big brown man like me crying, that was it. I gotta say there we’re some waterworks.” After being set-up and rejuvenated by the Warwick USA Crew, it was finally returned to him when he visited the shop. Written 01.09.2010
